The Braille Project
The Braille Project is run such that it allows NewLink's disabled learners
to integrate the experience of being involved in the running of a small enterprise
with their training in Information Technology. It also produces very reasonably
priced materials which help to enhance the lives of visually impaired customers.
We use a large Braille Embosser and a smaller Perkins machine to produce
a variety of documents, magnetic labels for food tins, stickers for drawers
etc. So far, we have produced a Braille guide for the National Trust (
http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-vh/w-visits/w-findaplace/w-beltonhouse/w-beltonhouse-accessibility.htm )
and done work for Nottinghamshire Social Services.
All profits from our sales are used to further the activities of the NewLink Project.
